September 13th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyPs 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
If He is your shepherd today then He has one great desire for you, to supply or meet all your needs. The Bible tells us that His sheep are not found in want. That does not mean that the sheep are left to do whatever they want, to go wherever they want, to eat anything they want, but that the shepherd is there to provide for all the needs of the sheep. Sheep left alone will wonder away from the flock, sheep left alone will eat the wrong type of grass and even destroy a good place to pasture, sheep need to be managed. Through the tender care of the shepherd all their needs are met, they are not left in want for anything. They are kept close to the place of safety provided by the shepherd, given good clean pasture to eat, led to different places as one area of grass is grazed off, all of their needs are met. As Christians our shepherd has the desire to meet all of our needs if we just place ourselves in His tender care. Of course not all of His sheep are willing to do that. For some there is always greener grass on the other side of the fence, always a different place they want to be. But just as a sheep finds itself in want away from the tender shepherd’s care so does the Christian find him or herself in want when we wonder away from our good shepherd. Are you will today to allow Him to determine your needs and then provide for you?
