Eph 2:1-3 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

As this chapter begins it reminds the Christian of what he or she once was, dead in sin. It is becoming increasingly difficult to live in this world as a child of God. How many of wonder what is keeping Jesus from returning for His church right now? How many of us wonder how much longer things can go on as they are, how much worse things can get? Surely we are right now living in the days of Noah. Yet we need to understand that the love of Jesus Christ, the love that took Him to the cross for us, the love that saved us and changed us as we repented of sin and turned to Him, that same love is restraining the judgment of God today on this world, holding back the winds of judgment so more people can get saved. Now we are to pray for the return of the Lord, we as Christians are to long to see Him face to face but instead of just pinning for that day we ought to be working for Him in this day. We need to be praying for the lost, praying for souls, seeking souls till Jesus comes again as the song says. We need to realize that but for the grace of God we would still be lost in sin, we would be adding to the darkness of this world. Ephesians chapter two begins with a reminder, we would do well to remember what we were, what we would be without Jesus Christ.
