August 27th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyPs 33:11-14 The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. 13 The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. 14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
More trouble now for our nation both at home and over seas. Will we be engaged in another war? Will congress allow us to borrow more money? Will the government ever bring spending under control? These are very unsettling times in which we are living. We need something, someone we can depend upon. Where to look? How thankful we can be the God’s counsel, God’s Word stands sure, not to some but to all generations. Our nation can no longer call itself a Christian nation, but we as Christians can claim a God who loves us and had promised to take care of and provide for our needs. We as Christians are still the heritage of God, not as Israel was, but as born again believers in Jesus Christ. I wonder what God thinks as He beholds the sons of men today? I wonder what God thinks as He looks at a nation founded upon Biblical principals throwing them away? I wonder what God thinks and how long God will wait before judging such a nation? I wonder about those things but I thank Him today that He also considers His child in this world, considers the one in the world but not of it. I thank Him because He has promised never to leave that one, and to care for that one. If God knows how many sparrows will fall today, and there will be a lot of them, God knows all about my needs as well.
