Heb 12:1-3 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Here we are believers are encouraged to look to the heroes of the faith to be an example of how we are to live and run the Christian race. The word where fore in verse one takes us back to chapter 11. Indeed we find in the Word of God many to look at, many to look up to as an example and an encouragement in our walk with the Lord. Think for a moment how it must have been to live among those ones, to live and see Joseph, Daniel, Jeremiah, and the others. Could they not have been a great encouragement to those around them? Surely they were. Tell me then, are you an encouragement to those who live around you? When people, especially Christians, look at you are they encouraged to walk with the Lord. Generations past have had Daniel, Job, Moses, Noah, Elijah, Peter, Paul and how many not named in the Bible to be an encouragement and example. What or who does our generation have? Christian, it has you and me. That is a lot to think about isn’t it? Daniel along with three others were used to save a nation and 70 years after being taken captive those who were influenced for Jehovah by those men returned to Jerusalem. Moses was such an example that an entire nation followed him through the Red Sea. On and on we go through the pages of the Bible taking note of men and women who stood for the Lord and encouraged others to do the same. But who can people look at today to be an encouragement to them? Again, to you and me. Are you an encouragement to others with you walk with the Lord, your service to Him, your life given to Jesus Christ? We need to be my friend. Lord help us today.
