Acts 9:4-5, 15-16 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks…15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: 16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

If life was hard for Paul before salvation, it was hard for him to “Kick against the pricks”, one could certainly argue that it got harder for him after he was save. Few suffered as Paul did for the cause of Christ. (Verse 16) How then did life get easier for this man? There was no longer the torment within after he turned his life over to Jesus Christ. There is a promise made by many today, a false promise, that after salvation everything is good, that Jesus will make this life easy and if it is not then you are at fault because of a lack of faith on your part or some sin in your life. The truth is that we as Christians are not promised an easy path through this world. Even though we are in Christ we still must live in this world of sin, live in this world where Satan is the prince and power of the air. What changes then for the Christian? We no longer live under the curse of sin, no longer live under the penalty of sin, no longer have to be tormented within when we give in to Jesus Christ. Now we can abide in Him as the apostle did. It may be that we suffer much in this world, have much sickness, endure much loss, but we are no longer of the world. As Christians we can live with another in mind and our hearts can be given to heaven above. Life may not get easier for a Christian but it sure is easier to live.
