June 21st, 2013 by Pastor SolleyMatt 19:13-15 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. 15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
This is our last day of VBS at Cherry Corner and it has been a blessed week. So far three young people have repented of sin and asked Jesus to forgive them and to be their personal savior. Those are not earth shattering numbers I know, but three have been rescued from sin and not have a home in heaven one day and that is more than a blessing to this preacher. As I talked with one young man yesterday I asked him why he wanted to be saved and he said “So I can be with God”. I explained that we all want that but there is more to salvation than wanting to be with God. We opened a Bible and we then looked at sin, at what sin is, who a sinner is, and what that will lead to in a life. Then as we looked at Jesus and what He did for us on the cross a light began to dawn in his eyes and soon he was asking Jesus to save him because he realized he was a sinner and not so he could “Be with God”. I share that because that young man will go home after today and most likely will not be in church again for an entire year, not be in church again until we have VBS next year. How do I know that? He was with us last year and it has been a year that he was in church. My mind goes to the verses above and I wonder why parents are so eager to introduce their children at the youngest age to anything and any body, but have no time to introduce them to Jesus. That you for all the hard work and prayers that went into our VBS and thank you Lord Jesus for the souls that were saved.
