2 Cor 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Another thing that will hinder our fellowship with God is our fellowship with the lost. I am not saying that a Christian is to have no contact with the lost person, that we are to isolate ourselves from the world, that we can’t show ourselves to be friendly. We will have to have relationships with lost people as we live in this world, in work, in school, even in our own families we will have relationships with lost people. But we need to guard how deep those relationships run. Out fellowship is not to be with those that are lost because we serve different Gods. The lost serve the god of this world, and the redeemed in Christ serve the God of heaven and they are different, as different as night and day. When we form a fellowship with the lost it will lead us away from the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.) If it is of the world it is not of God, if they are of the world they cannot be for God. I have fiends who are lost, they need Jesus Christ and I can’t win them for Christ if I isolate myself from them. But my fellowship needs to be with God and not those who do not know them, the lost need to see in me a oneness with Christ and not the world. Watch your fellowships for they can hinder you.
