Rev 14:12-13
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them .The last holiday of the summer is upon us, Labor Day. A day set aside to reward Americans for their hard work, one last day to enjoy summer before starting a long fall and winter season.
That brings me to a spiritual question; do works matter? We are saved by grace not of works the Bible clearly tells us. So do works matter? They must to God. The word labour is found 87 times in the Bible, the word work 419 times and the word works 237 times. You do the math, something found that many times in the Bible must be important. If something is found only 1 time it is important so works must matter to God.
The very last time the word works is used we find it in judgment. – Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works .
If works have a place in judgment they will be important. Over the next few days we will consider works, not just the works of the lost but the works of the redeemed as well. Will we see that works matter to God? We will and we will see just how much.
