Prov 10:5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Another word about summer this morning. Here we see that a wise man works in the summer and has a good harvest, while another sleeps during harvest and causes shame. There are many who profess to know the Lord Jesus Christ who are sleeping through the harvest today. Didn’t Jesus say that the fields are white with harvest? Yet we find a very small number being brought in today and the reason being that many are sleeping when they should be working. What are we doing as summer ends? Are we doing more for the Lord or less today? The truth is that many are sleeping today, many are causing the Lord shame in the time of harvest. We have more causes to speak to others about Christ today than at any other time. The state of the nation has people concerned, the state of society has people concerned, illness, weather, any number of things give us an opportunity to speak to others about Jesus Christ. Yet in the time of harvest what are we doing, working or sleeping?
