April 18th, 2013 by Pastor Solley2 Cor 4:1-5 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
The gospel, Jesus Christ given, sacrificed, blood shed, risen, alive, calling all men unto Him, it is the truth, it is what saves, it is what is preached still today. The old fashioned message saves in the old fashioned way. Why then are so few interested in the gospel message today? Because of the blindness of man, because of minds blinded by Satan. Man is more interested in self, in the world, in pleasure today than in spiritual things. Man would rather live 60 – 70 years in this world in sin, in self indulgence, in pleasures of the flesh, than he would live eternally in heaven with God in Christ. While that is unreasonable it is true. The gospel message is hid to those who are lost and the god of this world, Satan, has blinded the minds, hearts and eyes of those apart from Jesus Christ. Just look around and try and find something good that this world offers and it cannot be done. We have a world and people drowning in sin and few care at all about it. Those in sin do not care about their own condition. We were handing out gospel tracts and inviting people out to church this past Tuesday and you can see that those lost in sin do not care. One man watching my partner and I come up his walk turned away and shut the door before we could say anything. Like so many today he shut the door on the one calling him, on the one who wants to save him, one the one who will save him if he would only believe and repent. Yet in blindness he shut the door on Jesus Christ. All need to be saved, Jesus died for all, Jesus can and wants to save all. How then can we break through the blindness of the world? There is a way and we will look at that tomorrow.
