11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray , as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.Another thing we see when we look at Jesus in prayer is Jesus consistent in prayer.
Rom 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer ;
Not only was Jesus always in prayer but was also consistent in the way that He prayed. Jesus was always seeking the will of God in prayer. – John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Always seeking to do the will of the Father, always praying in the will of the Father.
This is not always an easy thing to do, in truth most of the time it is a difficult thing to do. We see the trials set before us, the circumstances of life that we know need to be changed and we begin to pray for that. We pray for every mountain to be laid flat, every valley to be filled, every sickness to be cured, every trial to go away. But at times it is not the will of God for those things to happen as we wish at the present time. Do we really believe God knows best? Do we really trust in Him? Or do we want to take matters into our own hands, order God to do things in prayer, and want our way over His?
Jesus was consistent in that He always prayed in the will of the Father. Are we?
