Amos 9:1-4 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. 2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: 3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: 4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

Who is that can escape the judgment of God? We find in our text this morning that those who dig into hell or climb up to heaven shall not escape the judgment of God, no man can. If you take time to read Psalm 139 you will find great comfort in the truth that we are never removed from the presence of God, that God knows all about us, even before we were formed in the womb of our mother, God knew all about us. That is of great comfort to the born again believer in Jesus Christ. Yet these verses present that same truth in a much different light. No man can escape the judgment of God, no man can hide from God, no man is not known unto God. Yet we find so many today who choose to live as if God does not exist or does not matter at all. How foolish the lost man can be. Yet there are many who profess to know Jesus Christ as savior who choose to live in the same manner. We need to stop and consider that none of us can hide from God, all things are known under God, and there is a day of judgment coming. Are we ready for that day? Yes, even the Christian must appear before God to be judged, not for sin, but for the type of life we chose to live after salvation. None can hide from God.
