Matt 26:38-43 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. 43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

Sleep is not always a bad thing, it is a needed thing. But there are times when sleep needs to be set aside and work needs to be done. Here it is the work of prayer, Jesus needed the disciples praying for Him. Instead He found them sleeping. Then come the request from Jesus, spend an hour praying for me, spend an hour for me. Yet when Jesus returned He found them asleep again. It makes me look at my prayer life this morning and ask, can I spend an hour for Him in prayer? Can we be given to Him, set sleep aside, get up early, stay up later, can we give Him an hour in prayer. Most Christians, like Peter and the others, will not give Him just one hour in prayer. I wonder how many lives would change, how many circumstances would change, how God would work, if we gave Him that hour?
