Daily Devotions
February 8th, 2013 by Pastor Solley1 Tim 3:15 – 16 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
The last thing I would share with you concerning the church this week is the mystery of the church. Verse 16 is a direct reference to the Lord Jesus Christ and I do not wish to take away from that. But the church is a mystery as well. Something that can be so vital in the life of the redeemed in Christ is hidden from the world. For the Christian the church is the very arm of God extended to us each day. That place where we can go to stand in the presence of God, that place where we can go to hear from God, that place where we can go to serve the true and living God, that place that becomes a part of us and we a part of it. Yet that is lost on the world, it is before them but they cannot see. Why is it that something so vital to us is missed by the world? It is a mystery but then every mystery can be solved and that one is when a lost sinner come to Jesus Christ. Great is the mystery of the church.
