2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
It is always a time of cheer when one meets Jesus and has their sins forgiven. The man brought to Jesus had much to rejoice in before he was healed physically. He had those who cared enough about him to bring him to Jesus, he found a savior, one who care more about his soul than his body, and then he found one able to make him whole in every way. We have the very same Jesus before us today. One thing that stuck me while preaching yesterday was this thought, there is no one in the Bible that Jesus touched, no one that He did anything for, no matter how great, that He hasn’t done for your or me. Jesus loved John, He loves you and me. Jesus forgave Nicodemus, He forgave you and me. Jesus restored Peter, He restores you and me. Jesus spoke to Paul, He speaks to you and me. What Jesus did for those in the Bible He does for us today. That should cheer you as you start your day, it is always a time of cheer when you meet with Jesus.
