3 John 9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
Face to face what will it Be? How will we be known, what will we be known for when we stand before Jesus one day? Consider these two men from our reading this morning, Demas and Diotrephes. What might have been said about them? It might have been said that they loved Jesus, that they loved the church, that they loved the people of God, that they were always faithful, always there when they were needed, were good givers, were valued servants, that they obeyed the Bible, that they walked in the Spirit, these things might have been said about them. They might have been said, would have been said if they were true, but they were not. That is not the way those two Christians lived their lives. Instead this is what is said about them, an everlasting testimony recorded in the Bible, this is how they chose to live in this world, one in love with the world instead of Jesus, and the other in love with self instead of Jesus. Think of that meeting with Jesus, think of them coming face to face with Jesus. When I think of that I know that is not the way that I want to be introduced to Jesus one day. There is going to come a time when we stand face to face with Jesus Christ, the one who loved us so, the one who died for us, the one who lives for us, and what will that introduction be like? I pray what is known about me in heaven is not that I love the world, not that I love myself.
