January 4th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyHeb 10:31-32 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
The Bible says that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I would contend that it is just as fearful today as ever because we have a God who never changes and if He never changes His Word does not change. Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Think back now on the former times. Pharaoh found out that it was a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Nebuchadnezzar found out that it was a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Jonah found out it was a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Herod found out that it was a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. All who have ever stood opposed to God have found out that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. With the Bible having proved itself true we can surely see that it is still a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living god.
Shouldn’t this truth then be a driving truth in our lives today? Knowing what we do, knowing what I do, shouldn’t I then be driven to live in obedience to His Word, to walk in His light, to serve Him, to walk with Him, to abide with Him? The answer to that is yes, so then why do we often struggle so in our Christian lives? Because we fail to remember that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Those words are no less true for the Christian than they are for the lost person.
