There is a big push today toward Reformed Theology and a push of Calvinism in many different denominations and one thing they call for is a return to the old paths. But there is one thing that the people behind those things overlook, the old paths did not begin with the reformers. The reformers, although used by God in a mighty way, did not establish the old paths. To walk in them we go back long before the reformation, we go back to the Word of God. If we look at the reformers as perfect men without fault then we make a huge mistake. In all of them we find that there were things that were just not right as far as practice and Bible interpretation. For example they all practiced infant baptism. Yet many today will overlook those things and claim that they were right in every other area. If Calvin could be wrong in that could he also have been wrong in his theology on election as well? We need to return to the old paths but not the paths of the reformation, the paths of the Word of God.
