It has been a good week around here with our daughter, her husband, and our grandson visiting from NC. I look at the little one, he will be two in January, and I wonder how anyone could be loved so much. What a blessing he is to us and what a blessing it is to see him with his parents. Yet there is a love greater than we have for him, the love of God and Jesus Christ for us. I can say that I would give my life for my family, for my wife, for my children, for my grandson, and the reason I can say that is because they are mine. Yet when Jesus gave His life for you and for me we were none of His. We were lost in sin, we were in truth the enemies of Christ, and still He died for us. And for whom did Jesus Christ die? We find in our text that He died for sinners. (Verse 8) Who are the sinners? According to Rom 3:23 “All have sinned”. Jesus Christ died for all because He loves all. (John 3:16) How could anyone be so loved as we are? As I look at the little one my mind goes to the love that God has for us. How could anyone be loved so much?
