James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

We live in a very unstable world, an unstable country, an unstable society, families are unstable, we have an unstable government, and often an unstable church. The reason for this is presented in our text this morning, many are “Doubled minded”. (Verse 8) Our leaders say one thing to get elected and do another, parents have to tell their children “Do as I say, not as I do”, churches do not practice sound doctrine. When one is doubled minded they are unstable. Many times over the years I have watched people change what they have believed, leaving the sound doctrine of the Bible to follow the teachings of a man. The result is never good, it always brings instability. When we need wisdom, when we need stability, we need to ask God, we need to seek it from the Lord. That will only be found in His Word. If we ask and do not waver, do not move away from His Word, we will find it. God is not double minded, God is stable. We find stability when we walk in His Word.
