Gen 3:16-19 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

In these verses we have the results of sin, Adam and Eve cast out of the Garden of Eden, sorrow in child bearing, a life of hard work and sweat. This added to the death, both physical and spiritual that sin brought into the world. But it did not end here. Perhaps they thought that the end of the matter but it was not.
Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Now Adam and Eve would begin to feel the aftershocks of sin. Just like an earthquake sin has aftershocks. As we make our way through this world we need to stop and consider the aftershocks of sin. People often say they hurt no one but themselves. That is never true. Adam hurt more than himself when he sinned against God. Years later this sin came back against him and his family. In the Garden and apart from sin the murder of his son would have never taken place. When Adam found Able he knew of the aftershocks of sin.
