Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 Tim 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

We took note yesterday that Paul was a prisoner of the Lord and that a prisoner is not free, he is controlled by another. Did you know that those in prison lose their rights as a citizen as well? They cannot vote, it is as if they are a person without a country. So it should be with the Christian. This world is not our home when we receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal savior. Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. We are now citizens of a better country, citizens of heaven. As such we are to cut out ties to this world so to speak. We are in the world but we are not to be of the world. Too much of the time today the Christian has his or her eyes fastened onto the world, a place we do not even belong to anymore, when we should have our eyes fastened on heaven and the Father above. If we would stop and just think of what country we belong to in Christ perhaps that would make us better servants while we wait for His return. Who do you belong to today, what country are you a citizen of? If heaven then let us live like that, let us be strangers in the world.
