Matt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

This is quite a command that we are given in this verse, “Be ye therefore perfect”, especially considering the context in which it is given. Going back to verse one of chapter five we have Jesus giving the Sermon on the Mount. Here we find the Christ like attitude and actions of the redeemed. Read these verses and you find a way of life that is opposed to the flesh of man and yet we find that command “Be ye therefore perfect”. God expects us to act and think in these ways. How is that possible? Only through the power of the Holy Spirit of God and the grace of God are these things possible. Only through Him can we be perfect, mature, complete. Read this chapter this morning and take note of what Christ wants us to be in this world, how Christ wants us to act and think and then ask Him to make you perfect. It is impossible without Him.
