2 Tim 2:1-4 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

I had the privilege last night of meeting the granddaughter of one of the Navajo “Code Talkers” of WWII. She is the wife of a missionary on deputation and they were at our church for the evening service. I was thinking this morning of the great service that man performed for our nation and his part in victory over Japan and Germany. I was even more blessed when I heard that he is still a soldier but serving in a greater army than the one he served in during WWII, he is a Baptist preacher today. It took great strength and courage for that man to serve his country years ago and he lost a leg in the war, but I am sure he would say that sacrifice was well worth the freedom that was won. He has been recognized as a good soldier. My friend it will take sacrifice to serve the Lord as a good soldier in Christ Jesus but whatever the sacrifice we will say one day that it was well worth it and one day God’s soldiers will be recognized as well.
