August 3rd, 2012 by Pastor SolleyRom 12:5-10 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Members one of another, all the same and yet all different. So is the mystery of the church, the body of Christ. What makes us all the same? Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone. The church is not a social club where people with common interests meet, the church is not the Elks or the SOI, the church is the living breathing body of Christ made up of all true born again believers in Christ. But because we are all the same that should draw us together. God never intended for the church to meet on Sunday and then scatter for the remainder of the week. We are bound together by Christ and should be drawn together by the Holy Spirit in Christ. Because so many miss this they miss what the church has for them. They miss the fellowship, the strength, the warmth, the growth, the opportunities to serve provided by the local church. Yes God knows you are different but God also wants you to be the same, God wants you to be members one of another.
