Rom 12:1-5 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

How important is the body of Christ, how important is the local church, how important are other Christians to you? Notice what verse 5 of our reading this morning tells us, we as Christians are “Members one of another”. When an individual repents of sin and turns to Jesus Christ, when they call out to the Lord for forgiveness and salvation, they become at that moment a member of the body of Christ, of the church. They then are to be joined to a local Bible believing church, one that holds to and practices the doctrines of the Bible, a fundamental church. They become “Members one of another”. The family of God, the church and church family then should become as important to you as your own physical body. This being said, the church, the body of Christ should be very important to you. The sad truth is that for most who claim the name of Christ just the opposite is true. Many neglect the church, ignore the fellowships, shun the responsibility that comes with the body. This my friend ought not to be. Even as I preach on Sundays I know that I look into the faces of people who would never miss the church or the people if both were to be taken away and my friend this ought not to be. Now there are those as well who pour their heart into the church, who are given to it, who love the body of Christ and the church and that is how the Bible says it ought to be. Which is it for you today, how important is the body of Christ, how important is the local church, how important are other Christians to you?
