1 Cor 2:1-4 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

I often wonder what people thought of as they listened to Paul preach. All the things that he did not do as stated in these verses he could have done. Paul was an educated man, a trained man and a man of wisdom of the world and religion. He could have spoken with excellent speech, with enticing words and with the power of man, but Paul did none of those things. Read his messages in the Bible and you find that Paul spoke the simple truth of the gospel in simple words. The reason being that God uses simple things to accomplish a great work. Peter was a simple man, a fisherman who was unlearned. The same can be said of John. Yet those simple men were used to do great things for God. Paul was not a simple man but he was willing to become one so God could use him. When we are simple and small before the world God can use us the most. Many are so full of themselves that they become of little use to the Lord.
