32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. 33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. 38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
What do you have that you are willing to give unto the Lord in service. Most Christians think that they have very little to give unto the Lord. As a result most give nothing. In our reading this morning we see an impossible task set before the disciples, how to feed so many with so little. Four thousand cannot possibly be fed with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. The solution to the problem in the minds of the disciples was to simply send the multitude away. (Verse 33) Yet the little that they came up with placed in the hands of Jesus was sufficient to meet the need. It may seem that we can do little for the Lord, do little with our talents, do little with our life for the purpose of the Lord but what held true for the disciples holds true for you and me today. God is able to do much with little as long as it is turned over to Him. What are you willing to turn over to the Lord?
