Prov 29:!5-17 The rod and reproof give wisdom: But a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. 16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: But the righteous shall see their fall. 17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; Yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

How many young people are left to themselves today? Few parents today seem interested at all in their children. They will give them food, lodging, toys and clothes, but few are interested in giving them what they need most, Jesus. Most young people as far as spiritual things are left to themselves. As I look around our area most families with children in the home have no time for church at all. Time for baseball games, soccer, fishing and hunting and so on, but no time at all for the Lord or for the house of God. And then we wonder what is wrong with the young people today. What is wrong is that they have been left to themselves. No wonder Jesus said “Suffer little children”. Parents need to be sure and give their children what they need most in their formative years. Given to the Lord and the truth of the Word of God they will give parents rest and not shame.
