Genesis 18:16-19
16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. 17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

Abraham was given special insight to the mind and plans of God. (Verse 17) Today Christians seem to struggle to know the will of God. What does God want me to do, why did God do this or that, are questions often asked. Why would God reveal things to Abraham and seem to hide them from us today? The answer I believe can be found in yesterdays devotional. Abraham obeyed God. Because Abraham obeyed, and God knew he would continue to obey, God revealed certain things to Abraham. If we want to know more of the will of God for our lives today the answer lies in obedience. If we will not obey in the simple things, in the clear things, why should God show us deeper things? Many professing Christians who tell me they can’t understand what or why God is doing things are not walking in obedience to the Word of God. They are seldom in church, don’t read their Bible, don’t live a separated life, and then they wonder why they can’t understand God. The problem is not with God, it is with the Christian. Was God able to say you obeyed Him yesterday? Will God be able to say that today? When the answer is yes we will begin to see more clearly the plan and purpose of God in our lives.
