24 And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.
25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Here we see both the theme and the problem with Israel in the time of the Judges. “Every man did that which was right in his own eyes”. It is a reoccurring theme today. There are many today who have elevated themselves to a spiritual status above the Word of God. The do “What is right in their own eyes”. All the while they ignore the straight forward teaching of the Word of God. The Bible is not open to debate, to your opinion or mine. The Bible says what it means and means what it says. If you want to be considered to be wise in the eyes of God than you will obey the Bible. But when we lift ourselves about the Word of God we are seen as a fool. – Prov 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. It is time we look to the way of the wise, time we listen to and obey the Word of God in all things. What is the theme of your life? If it is the theme of Israel in the time of the judges then according to God you are a “Fool”. But what then is the wise path, who then is the wise person? The one who heeds and follows the counsel of God.
