Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Where is your treasure this morning, who has your heart? There are many things to worry about today. What is going to happen with the economy, gas and food prices, what will happen in the days ahead. The President was going to fix all these things when he took office four years ago and we are still waiting. Things are worse now than they were then. Now others are saying they will fix things when they get in office. There are many things that can worry us and I know many Christians that are given to that type of worry. Yet the Bible tells us that we are not to seek after the things that will fade, the things that can be lost or stolen. Rather we are to seek after heavenly things. Where is your treasure today? As you read down through chapter six of Matthew you see the promise of God’s care and provision. But this promise is for those who set their treasure in heaven. God may or may not give us riches in this world but God has promised to take care of and provide for those who lay up treasures in heaven. Your bank account may be small, your retirement nothing, but if you are serving the Lord this one thing is true, God will provide and take care of you. Where is your treasure?
