And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord God fell there upon me.
2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
3 And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
4 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.
Many times throughout this prophetic book you will find the “Hand of the Lord” upon the prophet. God gave Ezekiel the words he was to speak and write down, God moved Ezekiel to do different things, to go different places. The hand of God was upon the prophet. Have you ever longed for that today? For the hand of God to be upon you, for God to speak to you, for God to lead you, have you ever longed for that today? Some would even wonder if God still moves in that way today. But God does my friend and God desires to move in that way in each and every child of God. But the truth is that few feel the hand of God moving in their lives today and the reason is that few seek Him to move in that way. Consider how most Christians will start their day. Up at the last possible moment, shower, dress, rush off to work. Then the day spent in the world making a living they come home tired, flop down in front of the TV, eat, more TV, then off to bed. Some have to bring work home, there are chores that need to be done around the house that need to be worked into the evening as well. What place, what time do they give to the Lord in their day? A few moments in the Bible, a few moments in prayer perhaps. They go to church but that is all they do for the Lord. No time for service, for witnessing, for doing anything for the Lord. And for many church services are only one time each week. And then we wonder why we never hear from the Lord. The reason Ezekiel could feel the “Hand of the Lord” on him was because he was given to the Lord. Ask yourself this morning; how much am I given to the Lord? Mark down the time that you give to the Lord each day this coming week. We may then find an answer to why we don’t seem to feel the hand of the Lord on us.
