Daily Devotions

Gal 6:1-5 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

One thing that should mark the Christian is the desire to be a help and blessings to others, especially brothers and sisters in Christ. Yes we will have our own burdens to bear in this world, we all have trials and troubles. But we are not to be so consumed by them that we fail in helping others around us. Many are quick to pray or those in need, at least to say they are praying. But what do we do to be a help to them, to lend them a hand? It may be as little as going and spending time with them or as much as helping ease financial burdens. It may be in putting our hand to the plough if you would and being a physical help in getting some work done. There are many ways of helping those in need. A problem today is that we have become so self centered that we seldom if every look to the needs of others. I often say that if the government would step out of the way and let the church take care of people it would do a better job. But would it really? Not if its members are never seen bearing the burdens of others.
