63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches .
7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.When do you seek the Lord? We find in this Psalm that David looked to the Lord early. (Verse 1)
David was in the wilderness as the Spirit of God gave him this Psalm. Just as his physical craved water in that dry land so did his soul thirst for the Lord. As David arose from his bed the first thing he did was seek after God. How important is it for us to begin the day with our savior? More important than we could ever imagine. Don’t let sleepy eyes rob you of precious time with God early in the day.
But notice that David as well would meditate on the Lord in the night watches. (Verse 6) As David would lie upon his bed he would spend time with his God. Far too often we put the things of the world in our minds all day and then go to sleep with them before us. For many the voice of the TV is the last image and sound of the day that they hear. No wonder so many have such a hard time sleeping. Try turning away from the TV and to the Lord to end the day as well as begin it. Perhaps then we will sleep better and be able to seek Him early.
