2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. 3 Thou turnest man to destruction; And sayest, Return, ye children of men. 4 For a thousand years in thy sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night.
Like many if not most conservative Christians I never thought this world would ever see the year 2012. My entire life I have heard and believed in the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We see the signs of the times, wars and rumors of wars, the way sin has comp-lately taken over this world and the minds of men as it was in the days of Noah. We see the wars in the Middle East and we listen for the trumpet. Yet we begin yet another year. I hear many asking; “What is the Lord waiting for?” We need then to stop and remember the truth given to us in verse 4 above. And we need to rejoice in the truth that our God is a longsuffering God not willing that any should perish. And so we have more time to witness to the lost, more time to pray for the lost, more time to serve the Lord. Perhaps this will be the year that Jesus returns for His Church, perhaps we are but days or weeks away from the rapture. I pray that is so. But if not we have been given another year to reap the harvest. Let us be labors for our Lord in 2012, let us remember He is God, let us remember that He wants men, all men, to come unto Him.
