One of the things I will give thanks for today is the will of God. At this point in my life and perhaps is yours things have greatly changed. Thanksgiving has long been my favorite holiday. For the past 30 years we have gathered in our little church on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for a special practice for our Christmas program as we did last night. Then on Thursday morning, Thanksgiving Day we meet at 9:00AM at the church for a special service. In years past on Wednesday afternoon my wife, children and I would go to my mothers home. Mom would be getting ready for the next day, homemade noodles rolled out, pies baking and so on. Family would be gathering the next day and it was a good time. Then after play practice we would often go to my wife’s home and visit with her parents. Her sister was often in for the next day and her family and we would have a good time. Then Thanksgiving Day we would spend time at both homes. But first church in the morning and what a blessed service. Both our parents born gain, most of the extended family as well. Just a good time in the Lord. Much of that has changed now. Many have gone on to be with their savior. Just home after play practice last night. Our daughter lives far away with her husband a son, our son is grown and will be moving out soon. My house my wife grew up in is sold, her parents both in heaven. Mom has joined them. Things have changed. One thing that has not is the will of God. I thank Him for that today. A will that would send Jesus Christ to this world to suffer and die for me. A will that would allow “Whosoever will” to receive Christ as savior. A will that has wonderful tings in store each and every day. Things have changed over the years but praise God Jesus has not. This is going to be a wonderful day.
