Daily Devotions

Psalm 150 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: Praise him in the firmament of his power. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: Praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: Praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

On Thursday we will stop for a day of Thanksgiving as a nation. Many will gather with family for a huge dinner, then go watch a few games of football on TV, perhaps stop in and visit at a few other homes. It is a good day, Thanksgiving Day. But this should be a special day for a Christian, a day to consider all that the Lord has done for us and His blessing upon us as well. Yes, everyday should be Thanksgiving Day for a Christian. But on this special day of Thanksgiving in our nation I would encourage you to take part in the following. Our church will have a special service on Thursday morning at 9:00AM. Even if your local church does not take some time out of your morning and really begin the day with the Lord. Take time in silent meditation upon His Word and then time to consider all that the Lord has done for you in the past year. His provision, His protection, His comfort, strength, and encouragement when you needed it the most. The opportunities to serve He has given you, perhaps those you know who were born again in 2011. And even those who were so close to you who have died in the Lord. I have had two funerals in the past 10 days and will have another one on Friday. There is no good time to lose a loved one, especially during the holiday season. But for those who have died in the Lord there is no bad time to go to heaven. God is so good to us, loves us do much, does so much for us. For the next few days count your blessings and be ready to praise the Lord this Thanksgiving Day.
