10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: He maketh the devices of the people of none effect. 11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever,
The thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; And the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
He spake and it was done. What a blessing when we think of this verse in light of the will of God, the power of God, and the Word of God. He spake and it was done. There are very few promises one can depend upon in this world. Government makes many promises and keeps none of them. Businesses make promises and keep none of them. People make promises and keep very few of them. But when God promises something it will be done. When God promises “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” it shall be done. God keeps that promise. No lost sinner is outside the love of God and shut out of salvation. When God promises “Call upon me and I will answer thee” it shall be done. God hears when His children call out to Him in prayer. When God promises to “Lay up a crown of righteousness” for all who love Him and serve Him it shall be done. And when God promises to “Cast out into outer darkness” all who reject the Lord Jesus Christ it shall be done. “For he spake and it was done”. What God says God will do. That is both a comforting and sobering thought is it not? Take comfort in the promises of god as we follow the Lord Jesus Christ. But take as well a warning from Scripture “He spake and it was done”. God also expects us to obey Him.
