18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man , and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
Father’s Day is Sunday and with that in mind I have been thinking a lot about Godly fathers in the Bible. There are so many that we could talk about but one thing we find in many of the men who served God is a common flaw. They had trouble in the family. David, Solomon, Eli to name a few, all these servants of God had trouble in the family. But there are also those who did not. Men like Enoch who walked with God.
We also have Joseph, the husband of Mary. We do not know what happened to Joseph or why he died at an early age but from Matt 1:19 we know all that we need to about this good man. Joseph was a just man. When Mary and Joseph were married she was given to a just man before God. That tells us all we need to know. Mary made a wise choice.
One thing we try and give the young ladies and men today is that they need to wait on the Lord and make a good choice in whom to date and marry. Wait for that just man, that just girl, that one who is following after and serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
What a testimony for a husband and father to have, that they are just before God.
