Daily Devotions

Ephesians 5:16-17 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Colossians 4:5-6 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

With all the time saving devices we have in our day compared to days in the past shouldn’t we be able to get more done in a day than ever before? But isn’t it true that we seem to get less done today, that we never have enough time? The reason for that is that we waste so much time. Before when people didn’t have cars that could travel hundreds of miles in a day, a computer that could give them so much information in an instant, appliances that can do in a few hours what used to take all day people made themselves busy all the day. Now we are given to wasting our time. Sitting in front of the TV or computer doing nothing instead of making ourselves busy for the Lord. Two times we find in the Bible we are commanded to “Redeem the time”. Time is something when wasted we can never get back. Yet so much of the time today we sit and do nothing. There is nothing wrong with rest and relaxation, we need both. But they have taken the place of work in our lives. What did you do with precious hours yesterday? Hours you will never get back. What will you do today? Let us get busy with our lives so they will not end up being wasted. Did you know that if you spend just three hours a day in front of the TV or the PC screen that adds up to almost 46 days a year doing nothing? Make sure that time is not wasted when you could be doing something productive for the Lord. Seek the will of God through prayer and His Word. Talk to others about Christ. It is better use of your time.
