Ps 84:8-12
8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. The 84th Psalm is one of my favorites. Many years ago in the midst of great distress God brought me to this Psalm in my daily Bible readings. I had been praying and praying about a matter with seemingly no results and one bleak morning I read “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
The Spirit of God allowed me to see that my God was a shield that would protect me from every attack of the enemy. That my God was only brightness and glory. That my God never withheld that which is good for me. What a blessing that verse is. The trial did not end that day but God took the heavy burden off of me and took it on Himself.
By the way, the outcome of that situation was not what I wanted it to be. But God through His Word assured me that His way was best for me. The 84th Psalm is one I read many times over.
