November 1st, 2011 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 5:6-8 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Verse 7 above is a verse many Christians know. Take everything to the Lord in prayer, leave your burdens with the Lord, give all to Him, every care, because He cares for you. That is a precious truth of Scripture. Have you ever considered where this verse is given? Right between the two biggest enemies the Christian has in this world. Read again verses 6 and 8. Here are our two biggest enemies, self and Satan. Many times pride keeps us from coming to the Lord and after salvation keeps us from surrendering all to the Lord. Humble yourself or pride will bring about destruction in the life of the believer. Then we have Satan who walks about seeking whom he can destroy and devour. In the face of these two enemies we are instructed to give all to Jesus Christ. I wonder how many times Satan has used our pride to take as away from the Lord, to make us ineffective in service, to move us closer to the world. Then when we are away from Christ we are like that pray separated and ready for the lion to pounce. Verse 7 above is a verse many know but few realize the context in which it is given. We are in a spiritual battle my friend and the only way to stand is to cast all your care upon Him.
