October 11th, 2011 by Pastor SolleyLamentations 3:21-24 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
Here is something to hope in this morning, the mercy of God. Take note of what the Bible tells us of the mercy and compassion of God in verses 22 and 23. They are new every morning. We are not going to live today on yesterdays’ blessings. God is going to be compassionate with us today, God is going to show mercy today in a way God has never done before toward us. The Bible tells us they are new every morning. I often wonder why God puts up with what He does from the Christian, from the church today, from me. It is because we can never run out of the mercy of God, it is new every morning to us. That is not freedom to live any way we want, rather it is freedom to fall upon our knees this morning, thank Him for a new day, ask for His direction and plead for the strength to walk in His will and in obedience to His Word. God will be compassionate and answer our prayer and God will be merciful in giving us the strength to obey. And yes God in mercy and compassion will forgive us when we fail. Isn’t our God and wonderful God?
