October 10th, 2011 by Pastor SolleyJohn 9:1-5 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Many today are like this blind man, not physically blind, but spiritually blind. In that way they are blinded by sin. The lost are blind to their need of a savior, even their actions of sin. They are in darkness and in danger of eternal damnation. But many a Christian is also blind in a way as well. They have eyes opened to the light of salvation in Jesus Christ but still struggle with a blindness. Blind to the needs of others to hear the gospel, at least blind enough that they never witness to the lost. Blind to their own need for spiritual growth, at least blind enough that they do not read the Bible as they should. Blind to their need of Christian fellowship, at least blind enough that they neglect the house of God. Many are like the blind man of John 9 and need to have eyes opened by Christ.
