Again I want to apologize for not posting most all this week. My internet connection is giving me trouble and have not been able to get on line. Hope the problem is resolved.
John 20:3-8 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
Josh 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
I will be preaching on Sunday on stepping inside. As Peter and John ran to the tomb of Jesus John arrived first and looked in. When Peter caught up to John Peter stepped inside. Why is it so many today want to claim the blessings of knowing the Lord but few are willing to step inside?
In Joshua 24 we see the challenge for the people of God to choose whom they would serve. Will it be the gods of the heathen? Will it be the God your fathers served on the other side of the flood? Or will it be the Lord?
What would be wrong with the God of their fathers? They were in the Lord yet still in the world and that seems where most professing Christians want to stand today. One foot in the world and one with the Lord. Few willing to cross over, few willing to step inside. I wonder how many blessings we rob ourselves of because we will not step inside?
