And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Yesterday visiting in the hospital I started reading to a man from John 3:1 down through John 3:18. As I finished tears were running down his face and he said, “If you can’t believe that, then you can’t believe anything.” I began to think about that statement and the simple but great truth presented to us in John 3 and especially John 3:16. God did and does love the world, not just certain ones. Jesus did come and die for all, not just certain ones. Whosoever can be saved, not just certain ones. It is simple but praise God it is true. Jesus did not tell Nicodemus “Ye must be born again if you are part of the chosen ones”. No Jesus told Nicodemus “Ye must be born again” because that is the need of all men, and Jesus died for all. What a precious, blessed truth, whosoever will may come.
