John 3:14-17
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Do you lift Jesus up? Is Jesus Christ lifted up in your heart and life, do you lift Him up to others? The reason that so few lift up Christ to others is that they have not lifted Him up in their own hearts and lives. Most people as soon as they get up in the morning turn on the TV. It is something they do out of habit but in doing so they have given first priority in the day to the world. This is just one example of how we lift up other things in our lives and not Jesus Christ. Yet the Bible tells us that Christ must be lifted up. Yes in context this is speaking of salvation and God’s free gift to all men. If one is going to be saved they must choose to lift up Jesus Christ. But we can go beyond salvation and say that if the Christian is going to live a life pleasing to the Lord int his world then they must lift up Christ. So let me ask again; is Christ lifted up in your heart, in your life today? Does Jesus Christ have your mind and your hart, does He have your life today? The vast majority of professing Christians will not read their Bible today, will not pray in the fashion they should, have no thought of witnessing today, or even of being in church tomorrow evening. Most have lifted up the world and we know what they world has done to Christ. The Son of man, the Lord Jesus Christ, must be lifted up. Have you lifted up Christ today?
