October 28th, 2026 by Pastor Solley1 Tim 4:8-10 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
KJV
The other side of the sandwich this morning. It is a faithful saying that if we exercise godliness in our lives it will take much hard labor and it will cost us something. “ This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.” The Christian who can’t seem to follow after the Lord is not striving, not working, not willing to labor to do so. It does take hard work and sacrifice to exercise godliness. Satan always presents an easy way, a way that takes no work and no effort but there is no profit in that way, no reward in that way. On the other hand to labor for the Lord, to sacrifice for Him brings much reward, lasting reward, eternal reward. The suffering of this present time that comes with standing apart for our Lord and Savior will not compare to the reward that is coming. (Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.) That also is a faithful saying so be strong in the power of His might today and labor for that lasting reward.
