John 21:11-12 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, and hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
KJV
I am planning a short trip tomorrow that will take up most of the day. Two and a half hours in the car each way and in between an appointment to get our taxes filled out and filed. Having to pay for working the past year is never something I look forward to. The only good part of the day will be where we will dine as there are several good restaurants near the office of the CPA and along the way as well. But the meal I look forward to the most is found in our reading this morning, the meal prepared by Jesus. It will take place after years of labor in this world is over, but that meal will cost me nothing as Jesus has made all things ready. There will be no reservation to make, that was taken care of over fifty seven years ago when I was born again. There will be no strangers sitting at tables around me, only one table and that will accommodate any and all who have placed faith and trust in Jesus. I will sit with a loved one tomorrow and cherish the time I spend with them, either my wife or one of my children will accompany me I am sure, but the table set by Jesus will be filled with all the loved ones that were born again and have gone on before as well. I wonder if you will have a place at that table? Have you made your reservation, are you born again, are you listening for the voice of your savior to call “Come and dine?” If that answer is no then why not call out to Jesus today? Why not confess that you need a savior, repent and ask Jesus to forgive and save you through faith in His shed blood and sacrifice on the cross?
